Welcome to EiOLit21C!
Welcome to Economics in One Lesson in the 21st Century! The aim is to show the average person who hasn’t studied economics a simple way to know when they’re being deceived by politicians, economists or activists.
It follows the structure of Henry Hazlitt’s Economics in One Lesson (1946): start with a simple one-sentence lesson, and then apply it to a variety of questions which you might wonder about, or hear discussed in the news.
I’ll be publishing one 2-5 minute article per week (on Friday morning), and occasionally supplementing it with a bonus article.
Introductory articles
To get started, I recommend reading the following posts (especially 4 and 5):
The One Lesson (3 min)
Debts (4 min)
Raw Net Worth (3 min)
The 7 Economic Actions (4 min)
Other articles — by topic
For more articles, grouped by topic, see here.
Feedback request
I’d be delighted to hear any feedback you have, either positive or negative, or any questions: comments on the articles are probably the best place. If you want to contact me privately, you can find me on X (formerly Twitter): Economics21st
